SimScale and Digital Engineering conducted a readership survey to obtain a high-level view of how engineers are using both on-premises and cloud-based simulation software. The research found that respondents are using simulation across their design departments and throughout the design cycle on a frequent basis, and analyzing multiple physics.

Let's face it. The world has changed and so have we. It has changed in ways that we cannot even fully comprehend yet. We do not know what the new world will look like after this crisis but we certainly know that it won't be the same as before.
We have long recognized digital as a major driving force in our industry to increase efficiency and productivity. The energy transition has brought new meaning to digital, making it a game-changer in promoting the structural change needed to accelerate the shift to a low-carbon future. Digitalize to decarbonize has become an imperative, powered by accurate, objective, and accessible data. At Technip Energies, energy transition is our business. Therefore we are fully invested in harnessing the power of digital in this journey. With a solution-oriented approach that connects data across the entire project life cycle, we make sustainable changes to the way we operate, broaden opportunities, and support new business models.

Engineering and R&D (Research & Development) activities have been at the core of the industrial revolution. It has helped individuals prosper by making laborious tasks easier and hassle-free. From making mobility efficient, driving speed and efficiency, and performing complicated tasks, among others — Engineering has significantly transformed the Manufacturing, Hi-Tech, and Services-led verticals, over the last 2 centuries. Furthermore, since the onset of the pandemic, a chasm has opened across various verticals, particularly for digital-heavy ones like the Software & Internet. To stay ahead in the game, enterprises across the globe are reassessing their business strategy for the future. Today, they have one common goal in mind — taking control of end-to-end engineering.

President Biden has called for net-zero emissions, economy-wide, by 2050. Accomplishing this will require increasing efficiency, vastly increasing renewable energy capacity, and transitioning from fossil fuels to clean electricity. Buildings have a critical role to play in achieving each of these objectives. This paper proposes a framework for determining which metrics are best suited for policies to move existing commercial and multifamily buildings forward on the path toward zero carbon emissions. Choosing the right metrics is necessary for effective policies, but it is not sufficient to achieving a just and inclusive energy transition. Building performance policies — in conjunction with other complementary policies — must bring the benefits of improved performance to those living in affordable housing andhistorically underserved communities, and at the same time ensure that the cost of compliance does not create new burdens. Jurisdictions must consider the impact of policy decisions on equitable outcomes, particularly with respect to establishing performance levels, options for compliance, and penalties for non-compliance.

Dry kilns are an integral part of manufacturing of wood products – they can also be one of the largest electrical power consumers in a modern sawmill. Dry kilns operating at suboptimal performance can increase drying cycle time, as well as waste thousands of dollars of electricity.
