TYLin, a globally recognized full-service infrastructure consulting firm, announces the acquisition of Architectural Engineers Collaborative (AEC), a leading privately held structural engineering firm based in Austin, Texas.
AEC was established in 1998 by experienced structural engineers with a mission to practice architectural engineering and provide technical and aesthetic solutions that meet their clients’ creative visions. An intrinsic belief of the firm is that structural design and architectural design are inseparable and that successful projects are the products of collaboration between architects and engineers. AEC specialties include Architectural Structures, Engineering Innovation, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and Sustainability/Green Buildings/LEED.
From new builds to adaptive reuse and historic preservation, AEC projects include a wide range of building structures for commercial, hospitality, government, education, and technology clients. The firm also provides structural engineering for transportation facilities, with a portfolio that includes airport terminals, transit stations, and pedestrian bridges. Many of their projects have won awards from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the Texas Society of Architects.
According to TYLin Group President and Chief Executive Officer Matthew G. Cummings, PE, both TYLin and AEC were founded by passionate, principled industry leaders and have the vision to make substantive contributions to society while delivering exceptional results.
“Architectural Engineers Collaborative brings a commitment to innovation and collaboration that blends perfectly with our key priorities: our people, our portfolio of clients and projects, and the value we deliver to clients, stakeholders, and the communities we serve,” said Cummings. “Joining with AEC is an important step that further expands our structural capabilities and deepens our presence across the Buildings and Infrastructure sectors in the important Texas market.”
As part of TYLin Group, AEC will be within the combined organization’s Buildings Sector in the Americas. AEC Founding Principal Charles Naeve, PE, and his talented team will report directly to Nat Oppenheimer, PE, LEED AP, Leader of the TYLin Group Buildings Sector and Silman, a TYLin Company.
For AEC clients, the benefits of this acquisition are significant, including the same dedicated collaboration with the local AEC team while gaining access to TYLin Group’s substantial global resources and technological capabilities.
“This new combined organization allows us to offer our clients a powerful combination of nearly 3,500 people, proven methods and tools, and a broader range of capabilities and solutions, no matter where they operate or how complex the project,” said Naeve. “Our staff also benefit from being part of TYLin Group’s larger organization, including more opportunity for professional career development and the potential to work on larger, more diversified types of projects.”
AEC will maintain its current project types and operation, doing business as Architectural Engineers Collaborative, a TYLin Company.
