Remote controllers: Area robotics students showcase their creations

Robots aren’t just the subject of science fiction. Monday student robotics enthusiasts from York Middle School, Aurora and Cross County tested student-developed technology, guiding their robots via remote control through a game called “Turning Point.”
The obstacle game challenged robots - and their operators - to maneuver across the course, along with catapulting balls to targets and flipping red and blue game components. York Middle School got its first major introduction to robotics in 2015, when NPPD provided YMS VEX Robotics kits. While the kits begin relatively simple, as users gain knowledge, the robots can be outfitted and programmed accordingly - perfect for a school environment.
