JDM Technology Group Acquires Electrical Engineering Design Software Maker PowerCad Software

JDM Technology Group, a leading global software business of best-in-class software providers, has acquired Croydon, Australia based PowerCad Software. PowerCad makes innovative electrical engineering design software for the Australian electrical industry. The transaction closed on Friday, 30 June, 2023 with approval from owners Adrian and Lorraine Newman.

Established in 1991 by Adrian and Lorraine Newman, PowerCad provides electrical engineering design software and services that are second to none for the Australian industry. Offering a range of products, PowerCad’s innovative, robust software helps building contractors, engineers, and manufacturers design integrated electrical systems in less time so they can increase profitability and grow their business.

In a statement on the transaction, PowerCad owner Adrian Newman said, “Our business was built on relationships and a desire to help our customers. Selling to a family business that is focused on long term growth and prioritizes its people felt like the right decision.”

As one of the largest global suppliers of enterprise software for the construction industry and built environment, JDM Technology Group has extensive industry expertise and a global development team. PowerCad will join Spearhead and CavSoft as part of JDM’s Australian group of specialist software solutions. Phil Johnstone will assume the role of Managing Director of PowerCad, overseeing the day-to-day operations. Adrian Newman will assist with the transition.

Comfort Systems USA Announces Acquisition

Comfort Systems USA, Inc. today announced that it has closed its previously announced transaction to acquire Summit Industrial Construction, LLC (“Summit”) headquartered in Houston, Texas. As previously disclosed, Summit is a specialty industrial mechanical contractor offering engineering, design-assist and turnkey, direct hire construction services of modular systems serving the advanced technology, power, and industrial sectors. Summit’s capabilities encompass a wide range of modular and site-based construction, including process piping, equipment setting, large pipe rack trestles, and related steel erection and specialty concrete work. Summit is a trusted supplier to some of the world’s largest advanced technology, power and industrial companies and is currently deployed on several major chip fabrication projects. Initially, Summit is expected to contribute annualized revenues of approximately $375 million to $400 million, and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization of $35 million to $40 million. In light of the amortization expense, Summit is expected to make a neutral to slightly accretive contribution to earnings per share in 2024 and 2025.
