IMechE Texas Young Members Group hosts Speak Out for Engineering Americas Heat 2018

April has been busy for the Texas Group Young Members Section who hosted their second Speak Out For Engineering (SoFE) competition, held at the Black Labrador in Montrose, Houston on 17 April and a refresher/initial interview and mentor training for Members and Fellows the day before.
The SoFE competition is a key event in the IMechE Global network that provides a platform for early career professionals and students to showcase their presenting skills on technical engineering topics.
The event kicked off with introductions from Jim Cowling, Chair of IMechE Texas Group and an introductory presentation on the IMechE, membership and professional registration from Tom Owen, IMechE International Business Development Manager.  America’s Region Young Member Representative, William Hesser, hosted the competition, explaining the history of the competition and the entrants.
