Build Group Selects Buildots' AI Construction Technology for Three Projects Including M2 Tower by 5M in San Francisco

Buildots | July 22, 2021

Buildots, the AI construction tech company that uses computer vision to capture every detail of the fit out phase and provide objective, data-backed insights to contractors, has been selected by Build Group Inc. to be used on three projects in the US, including the M2 tower which is part of the wider 5M development. M2 is a 19-story residential tower in the heart of San Francisco.

Buildots uses 360-degree cameras mounted on hardhats to capture images and every aspect of the fit out phase during bi-weekly site walks. Using the data from these captures and the client's BIM model, Buildots is able to form a continuously updated digital twin of the project. With this objective data, any incorrect installation, partially completed task, or other deviation from the schedule is automatically flagged, enabling complete oversight of the project. Furthermore, Project Managers have a comprehensive view of all activities through detailed reports to help them best manage resources and avoid costly delays.

Buildots'  fully digitized construction control room gives superintendents, estimators, schedulers and the entire team a birds-eye view of the development, and provides on-demand project status and analysis broken down by a number of categories including trade, individual subcontractor activities, and location on site. It shows the percentage of each activity completed and identifies the most urgent issues so they can be prioritized. Buildots easily integrates into existing workflows making it indispensable for day-to-day work, weekly trade meetings, or monthly valuations.

Build Group will be using Buildots on the M2 tower and two additional projects in California and Washington State.

ABC’s Contractor Confidence Rebounds; Construction Backlog Indicator Flat in August

ABC | September 14, 2022

Associated Builders and Contractors reports today that its Construction Backlog Indicator remained unchanged at 8.7 months in August, according to an ABC member survey conducted Aug. 22 to Sept. 7. The reading is a full month higher than in August 2021. Backlog is down from the levels of the second quarter of 2022 but remains higher than at any point from March 2020 to March 2022. While the CBI reading fell for contractors in the South in August, it remains the U.S. region with the lengthiest backlog. ABC’s Construction Confidence Index readings for sales, profit margins and staffing levels increased in August. The index for profit margins bounced back into positive territory while the sales and staffing level indices remained above 50, indicating expectations of growth over the next six months. “Despite the high risk of recession, contractors collectively expect sales, employment and profit margins to grow over the next six months, Backlog is down from the cyclical peak in early 2022 and has been roughly flat in recent months,The buoyancy of the nation’s nonresidential construction marketplace is really quite remarkable, Rising interest rates have already driven the single-family homebuilding market into recession, but brisk nonresidential activity continues. Many nonresidential contractors are operating at capacity, and their principal frustrations relate to supply-side issues like worker shortages, equipment delivery delays and elevated materials prices, as opposed to demand for their services." -Anirban Basu, Chief Economist ABC.

Honda and COSI Launch New Engineering Learning Lunchbox and Kick Off Nationwide "Honda Engineering Roadshow"

COSI | October 11, 2022

Honda and the Center of Science and Industry (COSI), a nationally renowned science museum, are coming together to launch a nationwide initiative—the Honda Engineering Roadshow—to deliver 20,000 hands-on science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) kits, called Engineering Learning Lunchboxes, to students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Distribution of the kits will take place in collaboration with local food banks across the country to help feed hungry lives and hungry minds. The new Engineering Learning Lunchbox was created in partnership with and as a result of a contribution from Honda, using funds raised via the auction of the first Acura NSX Type S supercar. In 2021, Honda donated all proceeds from the $1.1 million auction of the very first serial production 2022 Acura NSX Type S supercar to charitable organizations, including COSI to support STEAM youth education across the U.S. Each Engineering Learning Lunchbox contains 10 hours of STEAM content and provides five engineering-focused learning activities showcasing the diversity of STEAM careers at Honda, from aerospace to electrical engineering. It also includes a "Honda Career Connections" game to drive home the importance of engineering education for future career opportunities at modern manufacturing companies like Honda. "The goal of our Honda Engineering Roadshow partnership with COSI is to inspire young people to consider a STEAM career path, When students get to experience real-world applications of STEAM for themselves, they have a better understanding of what opportunities are available to them in the future." -Yvette Hunsicker, vice president of Corporate Social Responsibility and Inclusion & Diversity at American Honda Motor Co., Inc. The Honda Engineering Roadshow includes stops across the nation, from California to North Carolina, over the next year. Distribution of the 20,000 Engineering Learning Lunchboxes will take place in partnership with local food banks across the country to help feed hungry lives and hungry minds. This innovative, community-based model will bring together other science centers and museums, after-school providers and community leaders to highlight the importance of STEAM. At the first Honda Engineering Roadshow stop today in Bellefontaine, Ohio, 750 people experienced science experiments with COSI Education Team Members and received the free Engineering Learning Lunchboxes along with a food donation from Second Harvest Food Bank of Clark, Champaign and Logan Counties.
