Michael Baker International, a global leader in engineering, planning and consulting services, announced that the firm is implementing a new organizational structure to Reimagine Michael Baker, which will better position the company for accelerated growth and broaden its capabilities, services and solutions over the next five years to execute its vision of evolving to become a full-service engineering and consulting firm. This requires the firm's leaders and every colleague to redefine how the firm will protect and grow its core business in Transportation, Bridge, Water, Planning, Construction Services and other areas, while accelerating growth in Federal and dramatically advancing innovative, technology-based solutions. To affect this evolution, the company established an Executive Committee (EC) led by Chief Executive Officer, Brian A. Lutes, that will focus on driving the company's strategy of short- and long-term growth objectives. Three newly appointed Presidents join Mr. Lutes and the firm's Chief Financial Officer, Amy N. Davis, to comprise the new EC: Kent Zinn, P.E., S.E., has been promoted to President, Infrastructure James E. Koch, Ph.D., P.E., has been elevated to President, Federal Programs and Services; and Dan Kieny has been named President, Consulting and Technology Solutions.

hyperTunnel, the British underground construction innovator, has received a financial investment from VINCI, a global leader in concessions, energy and construction businesses. The funds will be used for business expansion and to further develop and test hyperTunnel's revolutionary construction method in practical situations.
The deal further strengthens hyperTunnel's connections with VINCI Construction technical departments. hyperTunnel recently joined VINCI's innovation platform Leonard as a member of its start-up accelerator programme, Catalyst. hyperTunnel also won the prestigious annual Construction Start-up Competition in Miami last year, which Leonard co-organises with other sector heavyweights such as Ferrovial and Cemex Ventures.

Last week, the European Innovation Council (EIC), Europe's flagship innovation programme to identify, develop and scale up breakthrough technologies and game-changing innovations, selected hyperTunnel to receive funding of 1.88 million Euros under its EIC Accelerator scheme. The funding will be used to complete the development of hyperTunnel's advanced swarm robotics underground construction platform.

A partnership to accelerate transformation
The three-year partnership will see Volvo CE put to work a mix of its industry-leading electric construction equipment and its most sustainable and innovative solutions in the exciting world of motorsport as the FIA World Rallycross Championship now enters a completely new era of fully electric racing. Further exciting details about the pioneering partnership will be revealed over the coming weeks.
World RX has always been a spectator-friendly race series that sees production-based cars race on short, closed circuits on asphalt and gravel. Now for the first time, the championship is being reinvented for 2022 as a fully electric series – as it targets a younger, more diverse audience.

The season will begin with a 'Launch Event' at iconic Swedish circuit Höljes, before travelling to Germany's famous Nürburgring, Hell in Norway, Riga in Latvia, Montalegre in Portugal, Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium and one additional venue still to be announced.
Sustainable and digital
As part of a shared sustainability roadmap, the parties will aim to limit transportation and logistics' emissions at the races, boost inclusivity and reduce travel-related emissions. Volvo CE will engage principally local customers to attend races and roadshows, with digital tools including the championship's RX+ livestreaming platform allowing a wider audience to enjoy the races virtually.
