High-Tech Nuts and Bolts: Hilti Brings IoT-Enabled Smart Fasteners to Construction Industry
Dallas Innovates | February 06, 2020
Construction industry products maker Hilti has launched Internet of Things-enabled smart fasteners with its Tracefast technology at the World of Concrete trade show this week in Las Vegas. Hilti Corp. is a Liechtenstein-headquartered multinational company that develops, manufactures, and markets products for the construction, building maintenance, energy, and manufacturing industries. Its North American headquarters are in Plano. The connected fasteners each have a unique identifying code on them to ease the digital documentation of anchors, screws, and bolts installed on a job site. The back-end tech uses a data matrix code and allows construction workers to scan the code with the Hilti Connect App to view installed fastener details. Bringing IoT to job sites helps to provide control and digital access to setting instructions, training, and inspection documents and certifications, according to a release.
