The region’s power network operator, Electricity North West, is searching for five new apprentices to help power the lives of around 400,000 people across Cumbria.
The search is on for both craft apprentices and higher level apprentices in Barrow, Penrith, and Kendal to train for three years to help maintain, develop and grow the electricity network for years to come. Electricity North West’s apprenticeship scheme, which is now in its eleventh year, has trained and developed more than 200 apprentices providing opportunities for local people in the region.

Bechtel selected as delivery partner for Metrolinx' Ontario Line

The project will require a mix of surface, elevated, and underground tracks to bring transit to more communities and will travel through dozens of vibrant neighborhoods. The northern terminus will be located near the Science Centre and a critical connection to the Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit line. The project's southern terminus will be at or near Exhibition Place and Ontario Place along the City's waterfront. The project includes 15 stations, six interchanges with other modes of transit, passenger pick-ups and drop off areas, and a maintenance and storage facility. X-energy is pleased to work with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) to further advance the engineering and design work of the Xe-100 small modular reactor (SMR) technology for use in Canada. In a release earlier today, the Ontario utility announced plans to "advance the design and engineering of grid-scale reactors," including X-energy's Xe-100. "It is a privilege to be working with OPG to advance the engineering work in Canada for our Xe-100 design," says Clay Sell, X-energy's CEO. "OPG has demonstrated incredible leadership in advancing reliable and affordable low-carbon power options."
