Are you leveraging the full value of your site technology?

Construction Dive | February 25, 2020

As technology continues to evolve, it’s important to understand the full value of adoption and how other successful site managers are utilizing today’s innovations to enhance their own value within an organization. Access your cameras from any location, on any Internet-enabled device, reducing travel costs and time driving from site to site. Gain real-time multi-site remote access and progress monitoring; avoid costly rework and delays with as-built documentation and collaboration; simplify your workflow. Let’s face it; miscommunication happens. Site cameras allow project managers, trade partners, owners and other stakeholders to communicate and collaborate with ease. Remote viewing, live video streaming, image compare and markup, automated as-built documentation and even public URL’s can be used to promote transparency and build trust. Construction sites are often the target of theft and vandalism. Complete your site intelligence solution with smart security cameras to receive critical real-time intelligence 24/7. Motion detected event notification alerts are pushed to your email or mobile device including a video clip or images of the triggering event for rapid review and response.

Rapid technological advances are changing the way people work. Now, machines are able to do complex tasks once thought impossible. We’ve been here before - think what the car meant for horse handlers and harness makers. But have we reached the point where machines can do jobs once performed exclusively by humans?

Granite Brought in for Preconstruction Services on Albion River Bridge CMGC Project

Granite | November 22, 2022

Granite (NYSE:GVA) announced today that it has been selected as the Construction Manager/General Contractor (CMGC) for the Albion River Bridge Replacement/Rehabilitation project. Located near Albion, California, the project will be delivered using the CM/GC method, which includes the contractor early in the design process to incorporate the contractor’s perspective in the planning process. This method provides more opportunities for innovation and efficiency than traditional project delivery methods. The construction portion of the project is anticipated to be valued in a range of $50 million to $85 million and awarded in 2026. The current Albion River Bridge is a wooden-deck truss bridge that carries Highway 1 across the Albion River near the coast in Mendocino County, California. Built in 1944, wood was used for large portions of the bridge because of WWII steel and concrete shortages. At 26 feet wide, the 970-foot span does not meet modern safety standards for width and the steel truss across the center section has become significantly corroded and does not meet safety standards for critical components. Despite the functional limitations of the existing bridge, it is a beloved local landmark and unique for being the only remaining wooden truss bridge on Highway 1. There are many alternatives, including rehabilitation and a “no build” alternative, that need to be studied and obtaining local community engagement is critical to identifying the most sustainable solution. Granite’s team will support the Caltrans Delivery Team with additional expertise, creating an integrated project delivery team to deliver a successful project. “The selection of Granite for this CMGC project demonstrates that clients appreciate our ability to work shoulder to shoulder with planning, environmental, and design experts to deliver the best solution for a community, Our team used local knowledge, innovations from around the company, and nationwide CMGC experience to deliver an exceptional proposal to provide maximum value to Caltrans at every stage of the project.” -Bill McGowan, Alternative Delivery Project Manager and Vice President Granite. About Granite: Granite is America’s Infrastructure Company™. Incorporated since 1922, Granite (NYSE:GVA) is one of the largest diversified construction and construction materials companies in the United States as well as a full-suite civil construction provider. Granite’s Code of Conduct and strong Core Values guide the Company and its employees to uphold the highest ethical standards. Exyn Technologies and Trimble Collaborate on a Proof of Concept for a Fully Autonomous Surveying Solution for Construction

Trimble | November 08, 2022

Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) and Exyn Technologies, a pioneer in multi-platform robotic autonomy for complex, GPS-denied environments, announced today a strategic collaboration to explore the use of autonomous construction surveying technology. The solution will integrate Boston Dynamics' Spot® robot, the ExynPak™ powered by ExynAI™ and the Trimble® X7 total station. It will enable fully autonomous missions inside complex and dynamic construction environments, which can result in consistent and precise reality capture for production and quality control workflows. "The integration of autonomous surveying technology into a construction workflow has groundbreaking potential, It can improve operational efficiency and transparency throughout the build lifecycle while also transforming worker safety for potentially hazardous data collection." -Aviad Almagor, vice president of Technology Innovation, Trimble. Autonomous robots powered by ExynAI, can sense and avoid obstacles, dynamically adapting to the ever-changing complexity of construction environments. To ensure the utmost safety and efficiency, the ExynPak mounts and integrates with a robot, supporting level 4 of autonomous exploration missions without requiring the robot to "learn" about its environment beforehand. A surveyor simply defines a 3D volume for a mission and the integrated robotic solution handles the complexities of self-navigation without needing a map, GPS or wireless infrastructure. The integration of the Trimble X7 provides high-speed, high-accuracy 3D laser scanning to capture the state of the environment. The captured data can be uploaded to the Trimble Connect® collaboration platform and shared with project stakeholders for further analysis, including a comparison to Building Information Models (BIM) and previous scans to monitor quality and progress. The end result is a map of unprecedented detail and accuracy collected with minimal human intervention and risk. "Industry has been waiting for reliable and robust autonomous technology to transform difficult and dangerous activities. Exyn's technology is helping to enable a new front in human-robot collaboration. By working with preeminent leaders such as Trimble, we aim to create adaptable, state-of-the-art systems to tackle the complexities across construction and industrial environments." -Nader Elm, CEO of Exyn Technologies. About Exyn Technologies: Exyn Technologies is pioneering multi-platform robotic autonomy for complex, GPS-denied environments. The company's full-stack solution enables flexible deployment of single or multi-robots that can intelligently navigate and dynamically adapt to complex environments in real-time.
