Whether it's a parts company, software supplier, or all the way to system integrators and even consultants, no one seems immunte to the ideas of decreasing costs and faster time to market, while improving product quality.
Probably ninety percent of all engineering vendors rely on these sorts of coveted, and often overused, marketing phrases. But any hyperbole aside, it touches on a reality of human nature. We want to do more at the same or better quality level, while also decreasing the resources we use to achieve our end goals.

Coastal Resilience Solutions by Taylor Engineering & Woolpert Under Mentor-Protégé Agreement

In yesterday’s announcement, U.S. Small Business Administration approved a six-year Mentor-Protégé agreement between Taylor Engineering and Woolpert. Under the agreement, Taylor Engineering, which provides coastal and water resources research and engineering services, and Woolpert a global architecture, geospatial, and engineering firm, will help Taylor expand its technical consulting capabilities, remote-sensing instrumentation and data collection capabilities to support domestic federal clients. In addition, Woolpert’s management and technical assistance will expand Taylor’s relationships with federal agencies, enabling it to compete successfully with other large Mentor-Protégé Programs teams and small businesses. Taylor’s end of the agreement will include delivering modeling expertise and coastal engineering experience to assist Woolpert’s consulting, geospatial and engineering capabilities. Broadly, the collaboration will be for online decision support tools, project design, data evaluation and continuous modeling for developing engineered solutions to persistent coastal issues. WSP Announces Agreement to Acquire Swiss-Based BG Consulting Engineers

WSP Global Inc. (TSX: WSP) (“WSP” or the “Corporation”) today announces it has entered into an agreement to acquire BG Bonnard & Gardel Holding SA (“BG Consulting Engineers” or “BG”), one of Switzerland’s leading engineering consulting firms, with a strong presence in France. Headquartered in Lausanne, BG offers consulting, engineering, and project management services in the infrastructure, building, water, environment, and energy sectors. It has a workforce of approximately 700 professionals, including 480 in Switzerland and 210 in France. BG also has operations in Portugal and Italy. Following the closing of the proposed transaction (currently expected in the first quarter of 2023), WSP’s Swiss workforce will more than quadruple to over 600 professionals. WSP is expected to gain a foothold in the French-speaking region of the country while also enlarging its presence in the German-speaking region. Also, as a result of the transaction, WSP is expected to almost double its workforce in France, adding offices and clients in Paris, Lyon, and Marseille. Caterpillar Announces Collaboration with Luck Stone to Scale Autonomous Solutions to the Aggregates Industry

Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE: CAT) announced today a collaboration with Luck Stone, the nation's largest family-owned and operated producer of crushed stone, sand and gravel, to deploy Caterpillar's autonomous solution to Luck Stone's Bull Run Plant in Chantilly, Virginia. This will be Caterpillar's first autonomous deployment in the aggregates industry and will expand the company's autonomous truck fleet to include the 100-ton-class (90-tonne-class) Cat® 777. Looking to accelerate autonomous solutions beyond mining, Caterpillar will implement its existing Cat® MineStar™ Command for Hauling system at the Bull Run quarry, on a fleet of 777G trucks. This will allow Caterpillar to gain greater insights on quarry operations in order to tailor the next generation of autonomous solutions specific to quarry and aggregate applications. This project supports the acceleration of autonomous technology for operations with fewer mobile assets to allow a step change in safety and productivity, as currently experienced at large mining operations.
