The number of electric vehicles being driven in New Zealand is expected to increase significantly over the coming years. By the end of 2021, the government aims to have 64,000 electric vehicles on the road. In effect, it won’t be too long before more and more companies start offering charging solutions to their customers. New builds or significant renovations present the perfect opportunity to include pre-wiring, to align with upcoming electrical regulations changes.

As part of a Digipro project, ALLPLAN is working with three partners to research a system for automatic performance measurement using IoT and BIM. DigiPro focuses on the digitalisation of products, processes and business models in companies.
As part of the German-Dutch INTERREG program Digipro, a project is currently underway that aims to automate performance recording on the construction site using IoT (Internet of Things) and BIM (Building Information Modelling). A consortium of four companies - BuildersMind, mangineers, Nijhuis Bouw B.V. and ALLPLAN - is working on a solution for automated construction site monitoring that documents construction progress in near real time. Promising results have already been achieved in an alpha test phase on two construction sites of Nijhuis Bouw in Enschede 2020.

The city’s leadership hosted a Community Chat with Mayor Eric Niemann tonight through videoconferencing. Besides the mayor, City Manager Chris Workman was also on hand to answer any questions. At a point in the meeting when Niemann and Workman were taking questions, I threw out a couple of questions, including the status of local developments in town. For example, Millpond Crossing construction workers have continued to build houses - and that’s allowed under the governor’s order - but I wondered if any precautions were in place.
