Companies in the oil and gas industry today might feel that it is difficult to determine the right balance to strike between engineering costs and the benefits engineering brings to a project. For cases where the possible engineering benefits are not well understood, the level of difficulty further increases in justifying the costs for engineering activities. To that end though, it stands to reason that the benefits achieved through engineering efforts will most assuredly pay dividends to a greater value than what is even quantifiable due to the risks and hazards that are mitigated or eliminated via such measures.
