It is important to find a balance right now and keep yourself surrounded by people you love, your family and friends. Stress is bound to happen during these extraordinary times. Meditation and connecting with yourself would help reduce any anxiety or panic that the mind creates. I am grateful that I am safe and healthy surrounded with my family, and I am thankful for having the gifts of life. It is up to us, to be grateful or be stressed. I treat this time as a luxury, time that I would have never gotten in my hustling life. I am trying to tick all the items in my to-do checklist that I have been postponing due to lack of time.

Detection engineers design and build security systems that constantly evolve to defend against current threats. Two common defenses include securing networks via configuration changes GPO, basic firewalls, etc. and deploying active prevention security suites advanced firewalls, antivirus, etc. Because security professionals recognize that no system can perfectly keep out attackers, the other option is to detect malicious behaviors – in network traffic and/or on a host – that bypassed the other security controls.

While the most visible aspect of engineering at ADOT is building, maintaining and operating state highways, there’s a lot of prep work that goes into projects. One area of ADOT that does a lot of preparation work to help keep important highway projects moving on schedule is the Utility and Railroad Engineering section. The Utility and Railroad Engineering’s mission is supporting ADOT’s construction program by making sure utilities don't conflict with the design of a project before it goes to construction.

The city’s leadership hosted a Community Chat with Mayor Eric Niemann tonight through videoconferencing. Besides the mayor, City Manager Chris Workman was also on hand to answer any questions. At a point in the meeting when Niemann and Workman were taking questions, I threw out a couple of questions, including the status of local developments in town. For example, Millpond Crossing construction workers have continued to build houses - and that’s allowed under the governor’s order - but I wondered if any precautions were in place.
